Sounen Audio Repairs owner Tom Maynard has been known by family and friends as ‘Tinker’ since his teenage years, as he was always tinkering around and fixing music equipment.

 

Having worked in audio archiving at the BBC in London for more than 10 years, he returned to live in York, where he was born and raised, in 2018. He rediscovered his passion and talent for repairing all things audio and further developed his skills in electronics.

Tom also has skills in digitising and preserving audio recordings. He collaborates on many creative music projects and sound installations with local creatives from across the city and further afield.

 

Tom is proud to be a part of York’s independent music scene, supporting, DJing and putting on events at local independent music venues, including The Crescent Community Venue and Rise, Acomb.

 

Tom's workshop has recently moved into Young Thugs recording studio - an inspirational space for making music, located in York’s Southbank, with the community at its heart.
